Linen can shift, grow, and wiggle right when you need precision. This checklist walks you step-by-step through the essentials so you can:
This isn’t a textbook. It’s a one-page checklist you can glance at between steps, so you stay focused on sewing instead of second-guessing every move.
Checks for pre-washing, grain alignment, and stabilizing that airy linen so your pattern pieces stay true to size.
Reminders to avoid stretching seams, shiny spots, and warped edges when you bring in steam and heat.
Quick checkpoints so you can catch shifting seams and stretching areas early, instead of at the final try-on.
Download the free linen checklist and keep it next to your machine so every project starts with confidence, not "I hope this works."

I’m Beth, the maker behind Linen and Legacy Studio, and I’ve spent years testing how far I can push linen before it starts to misbehave (aka making LOTS of mistakes). This checklist is the simple system I reach for every time I cut into a new length of linen.
If you’ve ever watched your seams twist, your neckline flare, or your hem go wavy after pressing, this checklist is for you.
Here are a few quick answers so you can feel good about grabbing the checklist.
Both. If you’re new to linen, the checklist gives you guardrails so you don’t make the most common mistakes. If you’ve been sewing for a while, it works as a quick reminder so you don’t skip the steps you "know" but sometimes forget.
No special tools. If you have a basic sewing setup (sewing machine, iron, pins or clips, and a flat cutting surface), you can follow everything on the checklist.
The checklist is written with 100% linen in mind, but it also works well for most linen blends that behave similarly, like linen-cotton or linen-rayon. You can always mark your own notes on the printout for specific fabrics.
As soon as you enter your email, you’ll see a link to download the PDF, and I’ll also send it to your inbox so you can re-download or print it again later.
No fluff. Just the basics that actually matter.
